Some text is not appearing

Some of the menu text is not appearing. The resolution options, for example, are not shown. Sometimes, the only thing I can see in the little window (I believe it gives info about the game... I don't know... I have never seen any text in it...) in the top of the screen is a green arrow.
Does anyone nows how to solve this problem?
